Membership Dues and Reminders

When it is time to renew your membership, AAUW sends you reminders of your upcoming membership renewal. Your first reminder is sent the month before your renewal is due, the second during the month you should renew, and the last reminder the following month if you didn’t renew. That means if your membership expires in June, you’ll receive email reminders in May and June reminding you to renew; if you don’t renew by your renewal date in June, you’ll also receive an email in July saying that your membership expired. Don’t panic, though — AAUW also has a 90-day grace period, meaning that you have up to 90 days after your membership expires to renew and maintain membership status.

AAUW’s Board of Directors approved a dues increase of $2 per year for each of the next 2 years, so National AAUW dues are now $74. The total for one year of membership in Portland AAUW is $105 (National $74, Oregon $16, Portland $15). Please follow the instructions on the reminder e-mail to renew online at the Community Hub or you can mail a check for $105 made out to Portland AAUW to Lisa Johnson, 1932 NW Overton St., Portland, OR 97209.

From Gloria Blackwell, AAUW CEO:

…we are determined to fight for our agenda, and that includes
  1. Expanding college access for girls and women. That means helping more women pursue STEM education, ending discrimination and harassment in schools, and defending Title IX.
  2. Supporting the economic security of all women. AAUW is committed to ensuring women have the resources and support they need to succeed in education, in their careers, and for their families.
  3. Investing in women. Last year we backed our agenda with $6.2 million in funding for women scholars and community organizations advancing gender equity, address, and education and professional opportunities for women and girls.
And we won’t EVER back down from our belief that women’s work should be valued, our bodies should be respected, and that our education and workspaces should be inclusive and free from violence, harassment, discrimination, and bias. (Feb. 2025)

Portland Branch: Advancing equity for women and girls since 1905.

At its start, the mission of Portland Branch was to provide a place where women with college degrees could socialize, and to raise money for a scholarship to support a high school girl to go to the state university. Today, it remains fundamentally the same: to provide opportunities to meet and make friends, and to support our local colleges and the community. We invite you to join us!
